ABOUT
Sofia Bue is an internationally award-winning artist, having 3 world titles under her belt, in Special Effects Body Art and Make Up in 2013, 2015 and 2018.
In 2017 she also published a book about body art titled Bodies of Art. The books spans over 150 pages and feature 40 different artists.
Originally from Denmark, she has lived many years in New Zealand, working as a sculptor and SFX Make-Up artist for the world renowned Weta Workshop, best known for their work on Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and Avatar.
Sofia has contributed her talents to many films and tv-series, such as The Hobbit trilogy, Chappie, Ghost in the Shell, Thunderbirds Are GO, Critters - a New Binge, Thor - Love and Thunder, and Sweet Tooth.
She has also worked on numerous public artworks and private commissions.
In 2021 Sofia returned to Denmark where she now focuses on her personal art practice. With a passion for nature, she find most of her inspiration from plants, animals, and non-human creatures. She works in plasticine, silicone and resins to create dynamic sculptures, and to tell stories.
